Owned and trained by Kerry Redente – Kenlyn Spring Fever aka Cruz is the last foal of Sacred Rendezvous. Bred by the well known endurance ranch, Kenlyn Arabians, who has produced outstanding endurance and show Arabians. Cruz is 15.2H, well balanced with correct conformation, incredible movement and a willing disposition. Cruz started his endurance career in 2019 with 6 LD’s. Unfortunately, due to my injury 2 of the LDs we were over time, probably shouldn’t have been riding right after breaking ribs and collapsing a lung. On the other hand, this proves that I have a lot of confidence in this horse to ride him while injured. He goes down the trail on a loose rein in a bozel or halter, he’s so light and responsive that he doesn’t need to be ridden in a bit, but I do school him in the arena in a bridle. Cruz’s natural collection and beautiful movement would make him an excellent dressage / Sporthorse prospect. He guides nicely just with my seat and legs. Out on the trail, Cruz does well in a group of horses. His preference is to follow and doesn’t challenge the lead horse or follow to close. He will lead too and is cautious and very easy to rate. Being only 6 yrs old, Cruz is still learning and developing, although he is still easy to ride. He would do best with a confident rider since he is very interactive with his rider and wants to know what he should be doing.
Cruz’z 2020 edurance season has been going very well despite the lack of endurance rides. He has completed 3 AERC LDs and 6 WDRA LD’s. At his last ride he completed all 3 days at the Spanish Peaks Pioneer (WDRA ride), a very difficult and challenging ride in the mountains of Colorado. He is ready to move up to 50’s. I’m hoping to do that at the Strawbery Fields XP ride in August.
Sacred Rendezvous has produced several successful endurance horses including Kenlyn Sacred Night, a 2005 mare that I completed Tevis on in 2015. KL Alcatraz Tu, Cruz’s sire is 16H and although not well known in the endurance world, he has produced well and puts size and substance on his offspring.
